3 secret beaches to visit in the Algarve.

In the far western corner of Europe, Portugal is blessed with beautiful sunshine and an Atlantic breeze. Anyone who has visited the Algarve will tell you just how beautiful this gem of Portugal really is.

It’s coastline is known for its iconic and unforgettable red, orange and yellow cliffs. When visiting the Algarve lasts year, I couldn’t quite believe a place so beautiful, existed so close to home! It’s really paradise right on your doorstep if you live in Europe. It is also only a short train journey to the beautiful Lisbon.

Here are the top 3 beaches we came across. All I bet you have never heard of! (Which is always a bonus!)

1. Praia do Camilo, Lagos. A secret tiny beach, sheltered by high cliffs looking over gorgeous terquoise sea. This beach was great for relaxing and also to take strolls along the cliffs.

2. Praia da Coelha, Albufeira. This beach is unique for its shells. It is literally made from shells! Such a beautiful sight, and lovely and calm.  If you pass through the tiny cave, you’ll find yourselves all alone once the tide comes in. This is so perfect if you want a bit of alone time and quiet.

3. Pedras Amameras, Guia. About a 15 minute car drive from the beautiful tourist hot spot Albufeira, Pedras Amarelas is a lovely spot for relaxing, cocktails and walks along the beach (which is miles long). There are rock pools, walkways along the rocks and quiet little secret beaches you can discover along the coast.

Such amazingly gorgeous beaches, perfect for topping up your tan and relaxing with a book.

Be sure to make a visit if you’re in the area.

Thanks for reading, I hope this inspires you to make a trip to the Algarve.

Peace and love, Nicola x
