When I think of the jungle, I imagine a maze of tall trees, vines, snakes and monkeys. A true nature heaven…. And that is exactly what I found when I visited the beautiful National Park, Khao Sok, Thailand. Believed to be over 160 million years old, one of the oldest a rainforests has so much to offer.
Staying just outside the National Park, Khao Sok Riverside Cottages were a real taste of what it’s like to sleep in the jungle. Raised up above the jungle floor, our little wooden bungalow faced out to the beautiful river. The sound of the jungle is something unforgettable if you’ve ever been lucky enough to experience it.
During the visit we had the chance to canoe, take night time jungle trecks and visit the national parks incredible Cheow Lan Lake.
Here is a little about what Khao Sok has to offer:
Cheow Lan Lake:
A day trip here has got to be one of the most relaxing trips I’ve encountered in Thailand. Setting off on an hour journey across the jaw dropping lake in a long tail boat is so much fun! We stopped, jumped out, and swam in the gorgeous waters surrounded by huge cliffs, and rocks that looks like giant floating boulders covered in grass.
For lunch, groups stop off at these beautiful floating huts, with a chance to kayak / swim in the lake. I can’t express how peaceful it is kayaking across this huge lake, pretty much alone. The food to follow was amazing, such a variety of tasty Thai food.
The jungle itself is beautiful, whether you just want to chill with a book or listen to the sounds of the jungle, every moment is well spent.
For the great prices offered to stay, it’s a trip worth going on!
