Who else is LOVING this sunshine!?! How lucky we’ve been for another sunny weekend in August. Everyone seems so happy, and you have the constant summer smell of sun-cream and BBQs (although i’m still waiting to have my first one of the year – pretty late I know!!). Anyway….. this weekend I booked Monday off work, and travelled to the beautiful Essex/Suffolk Countryside for a few days in the sun.
I feel extremely lucky to have family and friends who live in the countryside where I can, and so often, escape to. Everyone loves a break away, especially when you know you can relax, escape the reality of everyday life, and spend
time with those who truly make your soul smile.
One of my favourite parts of visiting my friend Jade and cousin Grace, is not only is she the luckiest girl alive to be doing exactly what she loves to do every day – which is look after and ride horses – but I get to join in the fun!! I will admit, I can be a bit of a wimp (a massive wimp in the winter) when it comes to the hard work, but when we ride, there really is nothing more exciting, peaceful, and beautiful than racing over the wheat fields in the sunshine together.
Not only is this a perfect example of how you really can do what you love, but you can also grow as person every single day when you’re around animals. Riding, training, and competing horses is NOT easy. It takes confidence, understanding, and a whole lot of patience to go from breaking in a horse, to show day. Working together with an animal, that really loves it’s life. I am surrounded by friends who dedicate their time and money… well really, I would say their whole life, to doing something they love…..and what amazing results they have been getting. Nothing comes without the love, care, and hard work they put in.
It’s always such an amazing ride with the girls, it’s hard to describe. I find it so comforting that all we seem to do is laugh and smile, and you really know times are great when you could never find enough of a word to describe how amazing an afternoon was. I always look back and think, “yes!! These are the best memories I have with me, forever”. but we never realise we are making memories, we just know we are having the time of our lives <3
“When walking or resting in nature, honor that realm by being there fully. Be still. Look. Listen. See how every animal and every plant is completely itself. Unlike humans, they have not split themselves in two. They do not live through mental images of themselves, so they do not need to be concerned with trying to protect and enhance those images. The deer is itself. The daffodil is itself.”. – Eckhart Tolle
